Vision and mission

Our vision

A world beyond fossil fuels: safe, just, and liveable for all.

Our mission

Our purpose is to build a Canada-wide community of seniors to create a liveable future. We have a major role to play and we have motive, commitment, and opportunity.

Our objective is to engage 100,000 seniors in actively achieving our vision through personal actions and successful demands for effective government policies.

Our main messages

  • It’s time to break through the climate silence.
  • The climate crisis is here. We need to act now! Later is too late!
  • We must phase out the use of fossil fuels.
  • Action on climate must be intergenerational and intersectional: joining with youth, Indigenous peoples, and marginalized and equity-seeking people and communities.
  • We need to speed up the transition to renewable power and clean energy.

Our action plan

Seniors for Climate is taking bold action. We are organizing campaigns and days of action across Canada. Seniors for Climate is continuing to organize the largest mobilizations of seniors in our country’s history, sending a message that cannot be ignored.

History of action
  1. Environment Week 2026

Seniors for Climate organized a Canada-wide Week of Action during Environment Week, from June 1 to 7, 2026, with community events designed to break through the climate silence.

Seniors for Climate hosted community climate cafés, neighbourhood walk-and-talks, open mic storytelling, music events, intergenerational discussions and seniors climate town halls.

  2. Draw the Line, 2025

On September 20, 2025, over 80 centres across Canada were part of the Draw the Line national action. Over 16,000 people participated in a variety of events. There was strong media coverage with close to 200 news stories.

Webinars

    September 9, 2026. 1 hour 17 minutes, on YouTube.

The strongest predictor of climate action is not how much people know, how worried they are, or which party they support. It’s whether they talk about climate change. We must break through this climate silence.

    April 8, 2026. 1 hour 29 minutes, on YouTube.

The webinar highlighted the urgent need to raise our voices, and build a stronger, more effective climate movement together. McKibben explored why renewable energy is now poised to transform the world.

  • John Vaillant: Fire Weather

    September 9, 2025. 36 minutes, on YouTube.

You can view the powerful keynote address given by award-winning author and journalist John Vaillant at the Fire Weather webinar on September 9, 2025.
